The Seven Heavens in Scripture - Quran, Bible, Indigenous, Vishnu, Enoch, Thoth, Hermes

INTRODUCTION 

The seven heavens and angels are something repeated through various scriptures revealed at different points in time, through different Messengers. Let us start with the Quran and the Bible:

Allah is He Who created seven Heavens and of the earth a similar number. Through the midst of them (all) descends His Command: that ye may know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah comprehends, all things in (His) Knowledge (Quran, 65:12)    

Then the seven angels with the seven trumpets prepared to blow their mighty blasts. 

(Revelation 8:6)

EMERALD TABLETS OF THOTH

Interestingly, we are also given hints to the seven heavens in the Emerald Tablets of Thoth. We are told that there are seven mighty Masters (angels) which are from different cycles above:

Seven are the mansions of the house of the Mighty 

(Emerald Tablets, Supplementary)

Learned I of the Masters of cycles,

wisdom brought from the cycles above.

Manifest THEY in this cycle

as guides of man to the knowledge of ALL.

Seven are they, mighty in power,

speaking these words through me to men.

Time after time, stood I before them

listening to words that came not with sound. 

(Emerald Tablets of Thoth, The Seven Lords)

There he may dwell as one with the Masters, 

free from the bonds of the darkness of night.

Seated within the flower of radiance sit seven

Lords from the Space-Times above us, 

helping and guiding through infinite Wisdom,

the pathway through time of the children of men. 

(Emerald Tablets of Thoth, The Halls of Amenti)

THE BOOK OF ENOCH

The Book of Enoch makes several references to the number seven: seven Archangels, seven magnificent mountains of stone, the seven rivers, and seven stars of significance:

And those seven holy ones brought me and placed me on the earth before the door of my house (Book of Enoch CHAPTER LXXXI : 5)

And the first heaven shall depart and pass away, And a new heaven shall appear, And all the powers of the heavens shall give sevenfold light. (Book of Enoch, CHAPTER XCI.)

In the Book of the Secrets of Enoch, we are also told about the seven angels and seven heavens, and some verses which speak about heavens beyond the seven:

And thence those men took me and bore me up on to the sixth heaven, and there I saw seven bands of angels, very bright and very glorious, and their faces shining more than the sun’s shining, glistening... (Book of Enoch, Chapter 19, XIX: 1)

And those two men lifted me up thence on to the seventh heaven, and I saw there a very great light, and fiery troops of great archangels, incorporeal forces, and dominions, orders...
(Book of Enoch, Chapter 20, XX:1)

And I measured out the whole earth, its mountains, and all hills, fields, trees, stones, rivers, all existing things I wrote down, the height from earth to the seventh heaven, and downwards to the very lowest hell, and the judgment-place, and the very great, open and weeping hell. 

(Book of Enoch, Chapter 40, XL : 9)

And I saw the eighth heaven, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Muzaloth, changer of the seasons, of drought, and of wet, and of the twelve constellations of the circle of the firmament, which are above the seventh heaven. (Book of Enoch, Chapter 21, XXI : 7)

CORPUS HERMETICUM

In the Corpus Hermeticum, Hermes also speaks about the seven heavens:

And God-the-Mind, being male and female both, as Light and Life subsisting, brought forth another Mind to give things form, who, God as he was of Fire and Spirit, formed Seven Rulers who enclose the cosmos that the sense perceives. Men call their ruling Fate. 
(Corpus Hermeticum I:9)

And Heaven was seen in seven circles ... And [Heaven’s] periphery revolved in cyclic course, borne on by Breath of God. (Corpus Hermeticum III:2)

INDIGENOUS & ABORIGINAL BELIEFS

What is also amazing is that stories from indigenous peoples and Aboriginals of North America, who rely mostly on oral traditions, refer to the seven heavens. The first example is taken from a book entitled, The Unknown Lore of Amexem's Indigenous People: An Aboriginal Treatise:

The Blackfoot people also have an interesting tipi design, which depicts seven circles:

OTHER BIBLICAL REFERENCES

Here are some more references to the number seven in the bible. Keep in mind that the bible uses the plural form of heavens. Pay close attention to the seven stars, which is also mentioned in the Book of Enoch:

Praise Him, highest heavens, And the waters that are above the heavens! (Psalm 148:4)

"To the angel of the church in Ephesus write: These are the words of him who holds the seven stars in his right hand and walks among the seven golden lamp-stands. (Revelation 2:1)

And when the seven thunders spoke, I was about to write; but I heard a voice from heaven say, "Seal up what the seven thunders have said and do not write it down." (Revelation 10:4)

One of the seven angels who had the seven bowls full of the seven last plagues came and said to me, "Come, I will show you the bride, the wife of the Lamb." (Revelation 21:9)

The seven good cows are seven years, and the seven good heads of grain are seven years; it is one and the same dream. (Genesis 41:26)

Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams' horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. (Joshua 6:4)

HINDU AND BUDDHIST TEXTS

In much of the Hindu-Buddhist scriptures, we also find mention of the seven heavens, including the seven mountains and seven rivers, similarly mentioned in the Book of Enoch:

In the Puranas, and already in the Atharvaveda, there are fourteen worlds, seven higher ones (Vyahrtis) and seven lower ones (Pātālas), viz. bhu, bhuvas, svar, mahas, janas, tapas, and satya above and atala, vitala, sutala, rasaataala, talatala, mahaatala, patala and naraka below. (Wikipedia)

The following verses are all taken from the Vishnu Purana: 

Seven Rishis, certain (secondary) divinities, Indra, Manu, and the kings his sons, are created and perish at one period 

These seven spheres, together with the Patalas, forming the extent of the whole world, I have thus, Maitreya, explained to you.

The earth floats on the ocean: divided into seven zones....

Those Brahmans who lead religious lives go to the world of the eighty-eight thousand saints: and that of the seven Rishis is the seat of pious anchorets and hermits. 

Having then divided the earth into seven great portions (continents)...

The Strong Impenetrable Firmament of the Heavens

INTRODUCTION

The firmament is something mentioned in nearly all scriptures and stories from past civilizations. It is something that science and elite authorities have hidden from us for a long time, especially after Operation Fish-bowl. For more proof of this, watch the videos at the end of this article, and research this topic thoroughly with an open-mind.

The Qur'an mentions the word sky or heavens (سَمَآء) well over 300 times. Due to our indoctrination as children and faked moon landings, we have been led to believe that humans can go beyond our atmosphere into what we have been told is a vacuum of outer space. The Qur'an tells us otherwise and gives us clues about the dome that lies above our heads, which may in fact be more than just the Van Allen radiation belt.

THE HEAVENLY THRONE

The ancient belief scattered throughout cultures and scripture has always been that the Creator's kingdom is just outside the firmament, which is guarded by flaming stars. In fact, there is numerous mention of the seven heavens, in which the Heavenly Throne surrounds:

His Throne does extend over the sky and the earth, and He feels no fatigue in guarding and preserving them, for He is the Most High, the Supreme. (Quran 2:255)

Unfortunately, government-owned organizations like NASA, which have been caught continuously lying to the masses, would have us believe otherwise. They would convince people that there is no throne beyond the sky, and they could race past the firmament, sending monkeys and even humans into space.

THE STRONG FIRMAMENT

Yusuf Ali is one of the few translators who chooses to use the word firmament to translate heaven in verses of the Quran. A closer examination of this scripture may render something interesting -- that the Creator has raised the heaven high, with a well-balanced structure that does not allow us to transgress, or rather pass this balanced firmament:

And the heaven He has raised high, and He has set up the Balance, in order that you may not transgress the balance (55:7-8)

 Keep in mind that the verb transgress (taṭghaw - تَطْغَوْا), which has been used in the above verse, can also mean overflow or overpower. In other cases, this verb is used to mean going too far, in the case of a transgressor. The following verse states that Allah created the sky firmament with strength (بِأَيْدٍ:):

And the firmament We constructed with strength, and indeed, We are [its] Expanders. 
(Quran, 51:47)

Now imagine a firmament or dome that is strong enough to resist nuclear missiles and rockets that are launched straight up into the sky. This is further supported by the verse: And We made above you seven strong ones (Quran, 78:12). The word used for strong in this case is شِدَادًا. That word, shidādan, can also mean intense, mighty, and hard. A good example where this word is used is when Allah speaks about the hearts that are hardened, to the point which they become harder than stones. Therefore, this firmament is strong, hard, and impenetrable.

THE SEVEN FIRMAMENTS

The Quran tells us about seven firmaments of the sky and the earth. This is in agreement with many other scriptures. Interestingly, the Puranas and the Atharvaveda also speak about seven worlds (lokas) above, and seven worlds below. In the following verse, translated by Yusuf Ali, we are told:

Allah is He Who created seven Firmaments and of the earth a similar number. Through the midst of them (all) descends His Command: that ye may know that Allah has power over all things, and that Allah comprehends, all things in (His) Knowledge (Quran, 65:12)    

Thus, we are told that there are seven firmaments of the sky above, and of the earth below. 

THE FIRMAMENT CEILING

In another verse, Allah refers to the sky or firmament as a structure (bināan - بِنَاءً):

Who made the earth a bed for you and the heaven a structure and (Who) sends down rain from the cloud then brings forth with it subsistence for you of the fruits. (Quran 2:22)  

Why translators, especially Yusuf Ali, have not chosen to use firmament for heaven in this verse is not known. There is also another mention of the firmament being a structure in 40:64. I have chosen to use the word structure as opposed to ceiling, canopy, or dome, because it is consistent with the way bināan (بِنَاءً) is used as a noun. It also has a similar meaning to the word (bun'yānan - بُنْيَانًا), which is structure or building. This can be illustrated by the fact that 18:21 uses a similar word  when it states, "Construct over them a structure". The verb form of that word means to build or construct.

Interestingly enough, where the Qur'an clearly uses a word (saqfan - سَقْفًا) to describe the firmament / sky as a ceiling or canopy can be illustrated in the following verses:

And We made the sky a protected canopy, yet they turn away from its signs (21:32). 

By the Canopy Raised High (52:5).

This triliteral root sīn qāf fā (س ق ف) occurs four times in the Quran as the noun saqf (سَقْف), and in all cases it is used to mean roof, ceiling, or canopy. This is shown in 16:26, wherein it says, "...so the roof fell upon them from above them", as well as 43:33. Therefore, should we not think of the sky as a canopy?

THE FIRMAMENT BREAKING

The Quran makes several references to the Firmament breaking open, hence implying that it is a solid-structured dome above our heads. Here is one example:

The heavens may almost rend asunder from above them and the angels sing the praise of their Lord (Quran 42:5)

All translators have used this word to mean rent asunder or break apart. The word used for rend asunder or break apart is yatafaṭṭarna (يَتَفَطَّرْنَ). Some more examples where this word is used:

The heavens almost rupture (yatafaṭṭarna) therefrom and the earth splits open and the mountains collapse in devastation (19:90)

When the sky breaks apart (infaṭarat) (82:1). 

The heaven will break apart (munfaṭirun) therefrom; ever is His promise fulfilled. (73:18)

In all cases, all the various translators have used the words rent asunder or break apart. There are more verses which mention the Heavens or Firmament breaking open, this time using the word tashaqqaqu. This same word is used to describe the splitting or breaking apart of earth, stones, moon, and of course, Heavens:

The Day when the heaven will split open (tashaqqaqu) with clouds, and the angels will be sent down in successive descent. (25:25)

There is also a mention of this verse in 55:37, which states, "And when the heaven is split open and becomes rose-coloured like oil." Some scientism supporters will spread the false notion that this verse is referring to the Red Rose Nebula photos handed down to us by science authorities and their Hubble-crafted garbage. Nothing could be farther from the truth, as this verse is clearly referring to the Firmament breaking open when the Day of Judgement approaches, and the angels afterwards being sent down in successive descent.

Therefore, we must ask ourselves, if there is no solid structure above our heads, why is there mention of this Firmament breaking apart? Clearly, you will see in subsequent sections that this lower Firmament is heavily guarded by flaming stars, for those jinn and shaitans who attempt to surpass it, thereby entering into the Kingdom of the Creator.

ANCIENT HEAVENS VAPOUR

The creation of the sky atmosphere and earth is outlined in the following verses, in which only Shakir uses the word vapor instead of smoke for بِدُخَانٍ. I have used Shakir's translation throughout, replacing heavens with Yusuf Ali's translation of firmament, and period with day:

Then He directed Himself to the sky and it is a vapor, so He said to it and to the earth: "Come both, willingly or unwillingly". They both said: "We come willingly". So He ordained them seven firmaments in two days, and revealed in every heaven its affair; and We adorned the lower heaven with brilliant stars and (made it) to guard; that is the decree of the Mighty, the Knowing. (Quran, 41:11-12)

Why did not other translators imagine a vaporous smoke instead of a dry smoke, as outlined by the numerous meanings of this word? This idea may also sit well with biblical scholars who believe in the Water Canopy Theory, which discusses how earth's atmosphere used to be drastically different a long time ago. 

Many Muslims are also mislead to believe that the above verse erroneously speaks about the Big Bang Theory, which was one of many fabrications of pseudo-science fantasies and atheistic attempts to explain creation without a Creator. There is no proof of the fictional Big Bang; it is all speculation and is also refuted by Dr. Halton Arp, who uses a plasma theory to explain the universe. 

LOWER FIRMAMENT IS GUARDED

The Qur'an also mentions that the lower firmament is adorned with stars in order to protect against shaitans. They are chased off by a flame:

 And We adorned the lower heaven with brilliant stars and to guard; that is the decree of the Mighty, the Knowing. (Quran, 41:12)

And certainly We have made strongholds in the heaven and We have made it fair seeming to the beholders. And We guard it against every accursed Shaitan. But he who steals a hearing, so there follows him a visible flame (Quran, 15:16-18).

Surely We have adorned the nearest heaven with an adornment, the stars, and a safeguard against every rebellious Shaitan. They cannot listen to the exalted assembly and they are thrown at from every side, being driven off, and for them is a perpetual chastisement, except him who snatches off but once, then there follows him a brightly shining flame. (Quran, 37:6-10) 

Even the creation of jinn are banned from entering the lowest firmament:

And that we sought to reach heaven, but we found it filled with strong guards and flaming stars. And that we used to sit in some of the sitting-places thereof to steal a hearing, but he who would (try to) listen now would find a flame lying in wait for him. (Quran: 72:8-9)

What is fascinating about the above verses is their resemblance to passages found in the Book of Enoch, which was discovered many centuries after the Qur'an was revealed:

From thence I went to another place to the west of the ends of the earth. And I saw a burning fire which ran without resting, and paused not from its course day or night but (ran) regularly. And I asked saying: 'What is this which rests not?' Then Raguel, one of the holy angels who was with me, answered me and said unto me: 'This course of fire which you have seen is the fire in the west which persecutes all the luminaries of heaven.' (Book of Enoch, Ch. 23: 1-4)
